the landlords will be the death of Singapore...
there was a nice shop selling dry bak kut teh along North Bridge
Road.. near Arab Street.. doing nicely, reasonably priced.. the
rent was somewhere about $10k...
the landlord saw that they were doing well and doubled the rent
to over $20k.. the stall decided to shut down because they could
not afford the rent
there are many many stories out there of little shops where
entrepreneurs and small business people are trying to earn a
living.. they work hard, become moderately successful and the
landlord comes and wipes them out...
